If you want Blizzard to provide new abilities, I am all for that.īut I am not in support of your idea that the new spells abilities we get officially should be based on your ideas alone. If you want to create a mod and balance it and have Blizzard support it through Unofficial means (ie, Custom Melee mode for anyone who wants to add their own Race), I am all for that. Those are two different things, you must understand. That is why I am in support of an official expansion.īut I am not in support of some fan’s creation being Officially supported as OFFICIAL content. Blizzard would have to change all of that like DOTA2 changed it all because of copyright issues or other reasons (confusing for Leoric to be in Warcraft). As a mod, it can freely use these concepts because it is unofficial. It turns Kael into Invoker, it turns Thrall into Disruptor, it turns Alleria into Windrunner. Lina Inverse is an anime character, Leoric is from the Diablo series, Zeus is literally a greek god. Without mods, DOTA would never become OFFICIAL in Warcraft because it uses characters taken from other media and series. Same with the idea of Female Night Elves being Druids this is because WoW has Male/Female options and the game designers wanted that completely open and not be limited by lore. But the Designers felt it’s too difficult to balance another Alliance-only Hybrid class without screwing the Horde over, so they overruled Metzen and gave Druids to the Horde side too, and thus we have Tauren Druid. That is his creative vision for the Druids and the Night Elves Druidism is exclusive to Night Elves and it makes sense. At some point, you will see that your creativity will be limited.Īn example of this is Metzen wanted the Druid class to be Night Elf only in WoW. Or he doesn’t like that you called them Blood orcs. If you created the Demon and Naga race, and some executive says “I don’t like Fel Orcs, change it” then you have to remove it all. You don’t seem to understand that for something to become official, it means you will no longer have full control over it. I don’t think you actually want what you are asking for. I think it’s great that it is its own successful mod with characters taken from Warcraft and adding new ones that can fit in the lore, but I don’t think it should be OFFICIAL. This is not a personal attack on you, but just the same I would not want DOTA to be an Official brand within the Warcraft universe. I do not agree that your specific vision of Demons and Naga should be an official part of Blizzard’s release of Warcraft 3.
